Every aspiring guitar player faces the following question: “What’s the best way for me to learn guitar?” Should you should teach yourself or hire a professional? Which guitar courses are recommended most often? What about those Internet-based guitar training sites?

These are all valid questions because how you learn to play the guitar is just as important as what you learn to play. This video is meant for a total beginner. It explains simple music theory concepts along with a few reasons why learning music theory is important. It also suggests books that can help a guitarist improve their music theory abilities. These videos are for the serious music students. You will find no guitar tab or other non-professional ways of describing music in these videos. The concepts presented are taught with the same pedagogy any other musical instrument. If you want to develop into a professional musician or want to have the abilities of a professional musician then these would be good videos to investigate.

David Wallimann teaches the basic building block of all music theory, the interval. This lesson teaches the theory in relation to the guitar, however it will still apply to all instruments.
